Port Harcourt Refinery’s Revival Sparks Hope and Controversy(Petroleumprice.ng )

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed recent media reports suggesting that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which resumed operations two months ago, has stopped working.

In a statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, on 21st December 2024, NNPC confirmed that the refinery remains fully operational. This has been verified by former Group Managing Directors of the company during a recent inspection.

NNPC also revealed that preparations for the day’s fuel loading operations are ongoing, assuring the public that there is no disruption in the refinery’s activities.

The company urged Nigerians to ignore these false claims, describing them as deliberate attempts by certain individuals to create panic, disrupt supply, and exploit citizens through artificial scarcity.

NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining steady fuel production and supply, ensuring Nigerians have access to petroleum products at stable prices.
