The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has disclaimed a circulating video that shows a man pouring a dark liquid, claimed to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), purportedly purchased from an NNPC retail outlet at Keffi Flyover in Nasarawa State.
In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday, Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, affirmed that the company conducted immediate spot checks across its retail outlets and debunked the allegations as false.
“The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has been drawn to a video clip in which an individual pours a dark liquid, allegedly Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), purportedly obtained from an NNPC Retail outlet at Keffi Flyover. We wish to clarify as follows:
“We have verified the claim through spot checks at all our outlets and confirm it to be false. The liquid shown in the video could not have been obtained from any NNPC Retail location, as NNPC does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans. Additionally, NNPCL operates under stringent quality control standards to ensure that only safe and reliable products are available at its retail stations nationwide,” the statement read.
NNPCL further advised the public to disregard the video, labelling it as a misleading narrative by unpatriotic individuals with ulterior motives. The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in product integrity, inspection, and calibration, to ensure consistency across its retail stations.
The company urged the public to rely on credible sources and assured them of NNPCL’s continued dedication to transparency and quality in its operations.
