The latest motor tanker report covering January 2025 shows the steady inflow of petroleum products into Nigeria, with Lagos and Calabar ports handling large shipments of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). The data highlights key vessels, cargo tonnage, agents, terminals, and receivers involved in the importation process.

What This Means for the Nigerian Market
The steady flow of PMS and AGO imports shows that Nigeria still depends heavily on foreign petroleum products, despite the gradual increase in local refining capacity. Lagos, being the country’s largest import hub, handled the bulk of shipments, while Calabar recorded a much lower volume.
With the Dangote Refinery and modular refineries ramping up production, there is growing expectation that Nigeria will reduce its reliance on imports in the coming years. However, until domestic refining meets demand, fuel importation will remain a key factor in ensuring adequate supply and price stability.
