The Federal House of Representatives, through its Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), has conferred a Certificate of Excellence on the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) for its outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The certificate, presented at the National Assembly in Abuja, honours PETROAN’s remarkable dedication to industry best practices, strategic collaborations, and continuous support in advancing the nation’s oil and gas value chain.

A Testament to Strategic Leadership and Industry Impact

The recognition, signed by Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), applauds PETROAN’s steadfast leadership and its role as a strategic stakeholder in driving downstream reforms.

Over the years, PETROAN has consistently demonstrated strong commitment to ensuring operational efficiency, transparency, and accountability among petroleum marketers and retail outlet operators across Nigeria. Its initiatives have helped strengthen market stability, promote compliance with deregulation frameworks, and foster investor confidence within the downstream space.

Driving Excellence Through Collaboration and Innovation

Speaking on the honour, Dr Joseph Obele, National Public Relations Officer of PETROAN, described the recognition as a “validation of the association’s long-standing vision to support Nigeria’s energy transition and ensure sustainable fuel distribution nationwide.”

He noted that PETROAN’s achievements stem from strategic collaborations with key agencies such as the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and independent marketers, among others.

According to Obele, the association remains resolute in championing industry growth through digital innovation, improved logistics, and transparent retail operations key factors that continue to define its excellence in the evolving downstream landscape.

    Strengthening Nigeria’s Energy Future

As Nigeria continues its journey toward a fully deregulated downstream environment, PETROAN’s role remains pivotal in ensuring energy accessibility, price stability, and compliance with global best practices.

The House of Representatives’ recognition not only highlights PETROAN’s achievements but also reinforces the association’s influence in shaping the nation’s petroleum distribution architecture a vital component for economic growth and national development.
