The Nigeria’s Gas Production surged 15.6% in March 2025, reaching 227,931.65 million standard cubic feet (mscf). This marks a steady rise in the country’s gas output.
Year-on-Year Growth
Compared to March 2024, the increase was notable. Production rose from 198,353.62 mscf to 227,931.65 mscf, highlighting steady improvements.
Breakdown of Gas Types
Oil producers extracted 119,552.75 mscf from associated gas, which forms with crude oil. Meanwhile, 108,378.90 mscf came from non-associated gas, developed independently.
Investment Drives Growth
The Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Gas) is ramping up efforts to attract investment. Strong policies now aim to improve infrastructure and ensure steady production.
Expanding Nigeria Gas Production
Nigeria LNG Limited expects its Train 7 project to boost annual capacity gas production capacity from 22 million tonnes to 30 million tonnes. This expansion reinforces Nigeria’s global LNG position.
With 202 trillion cubic feet of proven gas, Nigeria ranks 9th worldwide. This strengthens its long-term energy export potential.
The Role of Non-Associated Gas
As demand grows, the push for non-associated gas is increasing. Nigeria is advancing direct investment to expand production.
The country is embracing cleaner energy alternatives. More gas projects align with the Decade of Gas initiative, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Nigeria’s Future in Global Energy
Steady production growth, increased LNG capacity, and strategic investments reinforce Nigeria’s global energy leadership. The nation remains committed to expanding its natural gas sector.
Also, Nigeria is the third leading country in Gas Production in Africa.
