    Driving Down Costs as CNG Gains Momentum in Nigeria

    Manufacturers Turn to Gas as Price of Diesel, Petrol Jumps(Petrolumprice.ng)

    Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is gaining traction in Nigeria as a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional petrol. With fuel prices skyrocketing due to inflation and global oil market dynamics, CNG offers a viable solution for reducing transportation costs.

    A practical comparison illustrates this advantage: a typical trip from Abuja to Lagos costs N50,000 using petrol vehicles, whereas the same journey costs only N18,000 in CNG-enabled vehicles. This represents a significant 64% reduction in fare costs, making CNG an appealing option for both commercial and private transport.

    To facilitate the adoption of CNG, Nigeria has developed several conversion centres where vehicles can be equipped to run on natural gas. These centres are located across various states, with notable locations as follows:
