Dangote Refinery to Refund ₦65 Per Litre to Buyers

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will refund buyers who purchased petrol at higher prices before its recent price reduction. The company stated that customers who bought Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at old rates from its key distributors Ardova Plc (AP), Heyden, and MRS are eligible for refunds.

    Price Cut and Refund Details

The refinery recently reduced its gantry price from ₦890 per litre to ₦825 per litre. To ensure fairness, it will refund N65 per litre on petrol already purchased at the old rate. This move affects over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS and will cost the refinery N16 billion in losses.

According to Dangote Refinery, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on economic relief for Nigerians. The company assured that no business partner would suffer losses due to the price drop and that Nigerians should start feeling the impact immediately.

Marketers Must Sell at Fair Prices

Dangote Refinery urged marketers to pass on the price reduction to consumers and warned against unfair pricing.

“It is unpatriotic and unfair for anyone to buy petrol at N825 per litre and sell it at N945 or more. This kind of profiteering only adds to the financial burden of Nigerians,” the company stated.

The refinery also encouraged consumers to report cases of overpricing. Anyone who buys petrol above the approved rates from AP, Heyden, or MRS can request a refund by presenting their receipts.

    Approved Prices by Region

The refinery listed the new official pump prices:

    • MRS: N860 (Lagos), N870 (South-West), N880 (North), N890 (South-South/South-East).
    • Heyden/AP: N865 (Lagos), N875 (South-West), N885 (North), N895 (South-South/South-East).

With the revised ₦825 per litre gantry price, Dangote Refinery expects that no Nigerian should pay more than ₦900 per litre, regardless of location.

    Commitment to Affordable Fuel

The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality, eco-friendly fuel that enhances vehicle performance and protects public health. It emphasised that this initiative supports Nigeria’s drive for self-sufficiency in energy production.

“Our goal is to support Nigeria’s economic growth and ensure that every citizen has access to affordable, quality fuel,” Dangote Refinery stated.

The refinery assured Nigerians that it would continue working towards sustainable and long-term energy solutions for the country.
