The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has firmly denied reports suggesting that it suspended operations on its petrol production line for maintenance purposes, emphasizing that fuel loading activities remain in full swing.
Despite earlier reports over the weekend, observations around the refinery show a steady outflow of trucks carrying millions of litres of petrol daily. Officials on-site have reassured that operations are running without interruption, dismissing any claims of a shutdown as unfounded.
“Loading is happening right now. There’s no shutdown. Trucks are moving out daily with millions of litres of fuel,” a senior Dangote official confirmed, encouraging anyone in doubt to visit the facility and verify.
Earlier, Bloomberg had reported that the refinery’s residue fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) unit, a key component for gasoline production, was undergoing maintenance, hinting at possible disruptions. However, the Dangote Group swiftly debunked the story, calling it misleading and inaccurate.
Dangote Refinery Debunks Disruption Speculations
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has proven crucial in reshaping Nigeria’s fuel market since ramping up its 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity. Its aggressive pricing strategy has triggered a significant shake-up among depot owners, prompting price competition and easing pressure on pump prices nationwide.
By offering petrol at more competitive rates, Dangote is stabilizing domestic supply chains and reducing Nigeria’s overreliance on fuel imports, an especially critical intervention given the country’s ongoing foreign exchange challenges and volatile international oil prices.
Industry analysts underline that a continuous and uninterrupted supply from the refinery is vital not only for easing pump prices but also for reinforcing confidence in Nigeria’s emerging refining sector.
Dangote Refinery Debunks Threats to Fuel Stability
Amid global oil price volatility and fragile international supply chains, the consistent output from Dangote’s facility serves as a critical buffer against external shocks. Analysts stress that sustained production levels from the refinery will help ease inflationary pressures and guarantee greater energy security for Nigeria.
As things stand, despite swirling rumors and speculation, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery remains a stable pillar in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, reinforcing its role as a transformative force in the country’s energy landscape.
